In this corner we have the Gilmore Girls.. In the other corner we have WWE Smackdown. FIGHT!!

You either caught the reference from my title or thought it was totally random. If you had the latter reaction, yours was the same as mine. If you haven’t heard yet, the WB and UPN networks have merged into a new entity, The CW Network. The end result network coming from the 2 parent companies, "C" as CBS and "W" as in Warner Bros.
Both networks started in the mid 90’s in 1995. The overall ratings from each network are usually on the bottom on the totem pole. The WB tried to shop to one of the top 4 network which declined, (I assume it was ABC since their sister network ABC family currently syndicates Gilmore Girls, Smallville, and 7th Heaven) and went for the sure thing, UPN.
This merge is a last ditch effort to try to turn a profit on these networks who main demographic is the diverse 18 – 34 males and females. Both will take their strengths and the weak will bite the dust.
The shows The WB is slating to keep Smallville, Gilmore Girls, Supernatural and Beauty and the Geek. The UPN has Everybody Hates Chris, Veronica Mars, and America’s Top Model. The WWE Smackdown will play an intricate part in the scheduling.
Those are the shows everyone is reporting that are apparently in The CW lineup. What about the other shows? Currently in limbo until the network makes their Fall Lineup announcements in May. The WB’s Everwood has been on the backburner as of November; however Entertainment Weekly reported that the network had the show featured in a clip reel shown during the press conference. That’s certainly a sigh of relief for me. This may seem like a surprise to the general audience of the networks but was much bigger surprise for the producers for the shows on each network. Apparently no one involved with the current shows lineup even had an any idea.
UPN is benefiting from this more than The WB in my eyes. UPN is currently in 75 percent of the markets where to The WB hit 95 percent markets.
Nothing will be for certain how this merger will result. Each network will respectively stay on their current lineup until September, and then the actual The CW will air. We can only hope all my shows will stay intact. However its been said if the two networks couldn’t get it right the last 11 years, the next 11 wouldn’t be any easier. Lets just hoep all the crap shows on UPN doesn’t manifest itself on the new network. There go all the random sitcoms on the UPN and a few on The WB.
Goodbye Michigan J. Frog, hello whatever the new logo will be.

Beautiful Eyes, Sake, and Kobe Beef.. oh and a view to die for...
Thursday January 19th, 2006

After a crazy first week of school, a sigh of relief is here. Ilene's going back to New York dinner at Yamashiro in Hollywood. I haven’t seen her in ages and every time i see her, she gets more and more beautiful. I don’t know what it is, but in my experience, the girls i know that are half Spanish and half Korean are simply and amazingly beautiful. I think the more random you get in the mixes, the better the results. The top result of the mixture is most definitely the eyes. Oh the damn eyes. Anyways!
Met up at Leslies after picking up her brother. Ilene was meeting us up there and off to Leslie's mother workplace to meet and leave to Hollywood. Of course things are never go accordingly to MY PLANS. I like to say im easy going and which i am, but certain things i just like to follow a schedule. Pretty much off schedule since i was wanting to leave at 6, get to west Covina around 6:30, bullshit around until 7 and then off to Hollywood to make the reservations at 8.
Left at 7 and headed straight to Yamashiro. At this point I was pissed because i said clearly that we were leaving at 6. Almost told at the last second we should just go straight to the restaurant. Again the only good thing is looking at Ilene's eyes. Finally left, and Ilene up front. I just kept it quiet and bumped my Panic! At the Disco. However Leslie wanted Craig David which eventually Ilene did too. I wasn’t going to have it. I caught Leslie trying to push my feelings towards Ilene. Leslie has asked me before to make some copies of the photos i took of Damien Marley. I told her no, just to see how far she was going to go and that was that. Recently i told her not to tell Ilene to ask me since i most likely couldn’t say no to her. So when Leslie was trying to get the Craig David cd put in, she made a comment like, "Cmon Anh, its Ilene... You know.. Ilene." She was sooo leading, and then Ilene got into it, and i was steadfast and just listen along to my cd.
Eventually I did put it in since i listened to all the songs i wanted to hear. The third track of the album, "The Story Goes" entitled Hypnotic got Ilene all into it. Nice.. Now if i ever hear the song, it’s going to remind me of her.
Made good time into the city and got to the restaurant. Which is right by the Magic Castle and around the corner from the Hollywood Bowl. You have to go up this little street and around the corner on a pretty steep incline. After going up and around for what it seems like forever. Arrived right in front of the place to bored looking valet attendants. Handed over the keys and to the left you see all of Los Angeles. I mean ALL of Los Angeles. From the skyline in downtown to Sunset Blvd to Beverly Hills to what I think was the skyline of Universal City. It was just one of the best views I have seen in my life. The wind was blowing out, which usually means not a cloud in sight. It was just amazing!
A little history on this place....
Yamashiro means “Mountain Palace” in Japanese. It was the dream of the Bernheimer brothers in 1911 to build a hilltop mansion 250 feet above Hollywood Boulevard to house their priceless collection of Asian treasures. Hundreds of skilled craftsmen were brought from the Orient to recreate an exact replica of a palace located in the “Yamashiro” mountains near Kyoto, Japan. This dream became a reality in 1914.
Read the rest of the History of Yamashrio

Had a little wait time before we were seated. The bar area faced the overall view of the city, which of course was amazing. We were then seated in the Sunset Room, which I sort of requested. You can kinda see the view in the photo since that picture is pretty much where we were sitting.
Most of the view was right behind me, i could have easily traded sides at the table but i didnt mind. I had the eyes to enjoy instead. Ordered off the bat some calamari and got some Sake. The cheapest one there which was a cold milky, "Nigori." You can feel the milky consistancy and wasnt too strong. Calamari was totally good.
Looking around the menu, especially at the entrees, the items looked sooo good yet really expensive. The number one thing that caught my eye was the kobe beef and there was the kobe beef with grilled prawns. Goodness they were expensive. How expensive? Well Kobe beef can go for 300 bucks a pound. A flippin pound!! The whole thing around it is that the cow is massaged daily and fed beer. However I read that its fed beer to induce an appetite during the summer. Another thing i read is that the cow could be born and raised anywhere but ended up in Kobe, Japan when slaughter, its still technically and legally still Kobe Beef. Well i over looked that and decided upon the Grilled Seafood which included lobster, calamari steak, scallops, shrimp, mahi mahi among other things. The Black Bean Lobster in risotto caught the eye but i wanted something different sorta and fairly less expensive.
Ilene got the Sitting Buddha Sushi roll which actually tasted like a Spring Roll i am accustom to. Other sushi we got were Dragon Roll, Rainbow Roll, Catipiller roll and a Sushi box which included 20 pieces of typical random sushi. I was gonna share a Sashimi Sampler with Brandon but our waitress Yoshi convinced me to get the Toro Tuna sashimi special. Entrees we ordered, I got the Grill Seafood and Ilene got the Kurobuta Pork Chop. I guess the cooks made it twice and we ended up getting the one they sent out also. Leslie's eventually arrived and Leslie preordered her a Kobe Steak. Thats what im talking about.
Her mom gave me a good chunk of the Kobe beef and man o man. The best flippin meat i have EVER tasted. Kobe Beef is known for the unique marbelization of the fat interweaving with the actual meat. This meat doesnt need nothing. No A1 sauce, just light salt and pepper on the grill to a medium rare perfection. I honestly was chewing each piece about 50 times before swallowing. It tasted that damn good!!! Now this must be how the other half wines and dines.. Oh yes!!
The lobster i had was pretty good. The sushi was ok, decent i say. I wasnt really impress but Yamashiro, even though it has a Japanese history, but it states its cuisine as "CalAsian." Other than that, everything else was wonderful. The ice tea has a really strong flavor.
A lot of conversation, and laughs and fun. I refrained myself from pulling the good ol "Thats what she said," on Ilene. I mean there were some key moments, but i wanted just to hang out and be cool. It was brought up and little Brandon whos only in fifth grade hears me say it but he doesnt understand the context of how to use it. Its totally funny sometimes when he says it and it actually fits the context of the usage. Chitter chatter was fun.
Dessert was even better. We got 4 deserrts.. I picked up some cream puff thingy. It was ok, Leslie and Ilene shared something. I didnt recall. Leslie's mom got a Strawberry Donuts which were really good since it had this strawberry sauce and Brandon got the various sorbet. A great way to end a great night of food, views and conversations. It was even better since i didnt have to pick up the check. I could barely pick up the Kobe Beef tab, i dont think everything combine i could have handled. I dont know the total but i do know how much the tip was, so i could do some math and figure it out.

Afterwards we all hit the bathrooms. The way you have to take to get to the bathroom you go through the Koi Pond dining area. The was vacant since it was not really a busy night and any normal person would pick the view over the view of potentially century living old Koi. What sucks is that there wasnt a walk way to get down to see the Koi upclose but i guess its just part of teh ambience.
I made it back to the table to chat alone with Leslie's mom. She was digressing on the day, and of course i put my witty intelliegent comments and off to the outside. Rigtht in front of the entrance where you see the view of the city is a little Japanese inspired garden. You can see the Pagoda which i guess is the oldest structure in California.

Walked around each side of the garden while Ilene was taking pictures. I told her what I learn from Anthony Bourdain, I told her, "Be a traveler, not a tourist." This goes for everyone who reads this. You should know the difference.
More photos, posing and so on. Our cars came from the valet and off we go. I decided just to cruise around Hollywood and Sunset to show Ilene the sights. I mean she lived in California but its always nice to point out the landmarks and such. Drove around and then off back to Rancho. I was thinking maybe we should hit up a club and just dance the night away. Manny was doing Scribbles in Diamond Bar but i figured nah.
Headed to Leslies to hang a litle, tried to do some computer stuff. Was going to head back to Ilenes but i was tired and we headed over to my house for a little. Did whatever and that was the night. It was a totally fun night and Ilene gets back from school in May. Its going to be a good summer for sure! HAHA...
Kobe is some good shit!! the Beef and the Laker. 81 damn points!!!

Education.. a Multi-Billion industry.. i think..?
Hurray the Fall semester is here again for the ____ time... It’s blank not because I am omitting the number. At this point I have lost track.
Parking is unbelievable. I think its because its the first week where everyone is trying to get classes or act like they are going class. After a few weeks, it dies down. Also permits arent required just of yet. However I think i came to school an hour earlier just to get a spot which is totally ridiculous.
Now the run down of my classes. Mass Communications and Society with Kipp Preble. Oh what made me pick my professors was Rate My Professor.com and of course the requirements i had to fulfill. Rate My Professor is a very very handy tool to get a feel of the class and professor. Anyways.. So Preble, it says that he’s a sexist and if you are a chick, you wont get a good grade. Well since im a dude, ill be fine. The class seems very interesting; however our first project is a media sobriety test. Testing if we are either addicted or just habitual users of media. Of course its self tested and self discipline to actually do it for 72 hours.
OH! If you didn’t know. The measure how interesting and good your class is, depends on how many attractive members of the opposite sex there is. In that case, my Communications class is great. There’s one cute girl who has really cute eyes and lips and her hair looks good done up and down. Anyways. Looking forward to the class, and she walks my way to my next class, so a chatter session will be fun.
Macroeconomics with Kimberly Edgcomb. The class is totally packed but im glad i didn’t need to try to add the class. Can’t really say much about this class. The professor seems really cool, time goes by quick. But i think its because i have a buddy in the class. I found that if I have a buddy in the class, i am prone to chatter and joke around way too much. In classes where I don’t know anyone yet. I just keep my mouth shut. Cute chicks? Just one.
Eastern Philosophy with Dr. Maura O'Neill, that’s with two "L" since she’s Irish, and will fail you if you don’t put 2 "L." Rate My Professor says that you should open your mouth if you can’t back up your statement, because she will make you look stupid. Well no thoughts about this class at all. There this chick who has a staring problem foreals! It annoys yet makes me laugh cuz her and her friend aren’t so hot. Back to the professor, i got the vibe she has had a few run in with the Dean. Found it sort of funny but the class is interesting nonetheless. Covering Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism. Oh and Taoism is pronounced Daoism. So that new club in Vegas should really start educating their visitors.
Earth Science with Judy Lowman Wow, i think this is the first class fresh out of High School kids take. I mean i noticed a few football players and fellow wrestling teammates. What’s the thing is that most of these kids are annoying as heck, talking and talking and passing around notes. I mean dude is college and not high school. Grow the fuck up. The class is in a lecture hall with over 100 students. It just gets annoying. As for the professor, total hippie. Extra credit for doing homework on recycled paper, bringing toys for the chimps somewhere, towels for the human society, and picking up trash on field trips. The class isn’t too bad, the passing of the notes is annoying but one of the chicks, who do it, is very cute.
Last class, is Biology with Roseann Cobos. Class is again whatever’s, just another requirement. The professor isnt boring which is good. Her voice actually has some personality with it. What’s funny is when she states things, she shakes her head with a smile. There’s these two big girls who sit behind me and talk talk talk and laugh laugh laugh. I don’t know why but i got looks, smile, and comments when the teacher was talking about calories and ask about how many calories per gram for protein, fat, and carbohydrates (Protein and Carbs is 7 calories per gram and 9 for fat by the way). Who knows..
Now that’s the run down on my classes. I was going to add a Earth Science Lab, Real Estate, and Anthropology classes which would run the classes up to 8. Yeah, that would be over kill in credits and would kill me especially when events start coming again. Its pretty slow at the moment, but come over March, it will be out of hand. So 15 units with 5 classes will be fine for now. I shouldn’t even worry, and take my time and finish up classes. My friend at USC is paying 1000 dollars per unit taking classes he would have taking for 26 dollars per unit. Good luck to me finishing this crap up.
Oh click on the fellow link. I guess there are ways to “hack” a scantron. One of the first ideas was to put chapstick on it.. Interesting.. Well its a good read. If you didnt study for a test and in desire need. Try out a few of these tricks.
Conjunction junction whats your function??

Scrubs 100th episode celebration..
I like to start of saying i have never watched the show but im going to start. Scrubs that is. I did watch the premiere, which was hilarious!! I have 5 seasons to catch up with the show, which isn’t so bad. With the internet and TV Shows on DVD. I’ll be fine. I mean im on the third season of the Sopranos, which doesn’t mean anything since there is 10 seasons I think.
Off to LA once again... to the Cabana Club.. I looked up the site before I headed over there and wow this place is really really nice. It’s right off at Ivar next to the Arclight Cinema. I have been there 100s of times at the Arclight and didn’t even know the club was right there.

Checked in and hung out at the red carpet. They placed me right next to the reporters, but i was here to shoot the carpet. There was a photographer area and i noticed 2 photographers. I gave them the peace sign, well the peace sign was to the dude out of the group. I saw both of them earlier in the week at the Miss America thing. I guess the dude didn’t noticed and the heavy set dude next to him thought i was saying what’s up to him. Ehh whatever.
I was glad I was away from them, since there were over 10 photogs over there, which will all get the same shot. I’m trying to have the mentality of taking a different shot and taking another angle. But for whatever reason, me standing away from them, in a sense better position on the carpet. I felt that they felt i was getting special treatment and they were a little pissed about it. I mean i was standing right next to the house photographer who was shooting from NBC/Touchtone Entertainment. A house photog ALWAYS gets a hand up on the other photographers. Location, access and of course treatment. Ehhh whatever.. It sorta bothered me, them looking over at my general direction. I didn’t care. I’m glad I didn’t have to yell with the other photographers. When the cast walked by, I asked nicely for them to back up to the poster and i shoot their photo and the house photog would then also. We had a great routine working for us before they were attacked by the mob at the photo area.
I had a buddy there, well a buddy just met. Jolie reporting for a British music magazine called MMC or NNC or something. She was awesome, we exchanged thoughts
Everyone from the cast was great. Donald is as charismatic as you would think. I wanted to challenge him in some XBOX since he’s an avid gamer. John C. McGinley was funny talking about how he wanted to have Elle McPherson as a guest star as his forbidden lover. The people with Judy Reyes was very very nice and loved talking to them. Rather I don’t want to be here type mood was Zach Braff. Barely did the press line and or photos. Sarah Chalke publicist seemed like she was either drunk or on pain killers by the way she was slurring her words and making comments about Sarah telling long stories.

Samantha Harris from E! was chillin. Looking decently cute. Wanted to say hi and ask about Vegas when she was doing the Comedy Festival. I was already caught up in my own thing. Oh mainly it was the cast who were the celebrities who attended but Mandy Moore was in the house. She is really really cute. I asked her publicist if she was doing Entourage this season but she didn’t know and after I took photos of Mandy I asked her. She was confused and said not that she knows of. Dude it was a valid question since they sorta left her in the air last season.

I was surprised the wait wasn’t too bad and everyone seems to come in an orderly fashion. After all the red carpet people arrived, everyone left. Press people I mean. I decided to stay around and wondered if I wanted to actually stay at the party. After the photographers left, the house photog hung around to shoot one last group shot. I was glad I stayed back since only 3 photographers actually got this shot.
Chatted a bit a little with the cast members but decided to leave. Only why I would stay was to check out the open bar and the food. But I took in the ambience of the club and headed back home… First thing on the agenda once I get home is to purchase whatever seasons they have available.
I like to state before I end this post... Garden State wasnt all that great of a movie.. Direction and Cinematography was great hands down. Story and mood of the film was way too EMO!!! Thats all im going to say, i could really rant on and rant but i wont...
View more photos from the event
Sucks the show is going to end this season... i think. thats what i hear..

Miss America.. eh.... nothing special...
Wednesday January 11th, 2005
Off to Hollywood to shoot the contestants of the Miss America 2006 pageant. Didn't leave until 11ish after picking up Jesse. I figured I could use one of my gift cards from the dolce group to eat at Bella for lunch since it was right down the street.
The drive wasn't bad but had this chick that cut me off going into the carpool lane. Sorry if I limit my speed to 80 which is already fast enough. I ended up going 90 to catch up with her to fuck with her. But I couldn't catch up.
Got into Hollywood a little before 12 and parked in the complex and out of the car around 12:00. The photo opt started at 12 and check in was at 11:30. It was pretty much just the 52 contestants plus 2005's Miss American and the honorary major of Hollywood, Johnny Grant.
When I got to the grand staircase, things looked done. Photographers were just standing around. I tried to find who I was supposed to check in with. Eventually found Brooke after going through some CMT reps and all the security giving me a hard time.
I was surprised things were over since it was barely 12:10 and with my experiences, things never start on time and Brooke herself seemed dumbfounded about it.
I agreed to shoot the 2005 Miss America with the president of the pageant. I was feeling rushed and didn't get to set my camera up right. Photos came out over exposed and whatever. Wasn't no point since I didn't get the whole group.
As I stand there looking around, these girls aren't all that cute. Yes they are tall and fit, but the face wasn't doing much. Lots and lots of cake up. Even Miss California didn't look all that great. I saw 2 other photographers I recognized but didn't have time to say anything.
As I stand around, they all boarded onto the 3 tour buses back to wherever. The pageant is going on in Vegas and maybe I might go and cover it perhaps.
There's something you always see when you come to Hollywood Blvd and hang out in front of the Mann's theatre. You see the costume characters which are usually made up of Comic book characters.
All im going to say is that I know the Superman dude semi personally. Been to his house which was kind of scary and yeah. Its right on Franklin north of Hollywood Blvd where the place was a converted hotel into a apartment complex. Just think about that. Well its more of a motel than a hotel. For those who don’t know what the difference is, a motel has the doors opening outside as opposed to hotels where you are pretty much opening the door to your room inside, like a hall.
Talked to him a bit and headed off to lunch
2 blocks down I think.... on the corner of Las Palmas. Bella Cucina. The place is pretty small and homey. Took a seat down and checked out the menu. The menu wasn't too loaded with items but what they had sounded good. Decided on the beef Carpaccio and spaghetti with seafood in a zesty tomato sauce. The seafood consisted of clams, calamari, mussels and shrimp. The Carpaccio was the normal with raw beef, arugula, and parmesan.
They had this bread that was soooo good! It was accompanied with this tomato salsa type thing and they put a bottle of extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Lets just say I could have just the bread and only the bread.
Another good thing about the place is that the hostess waitress... Well they have many different waiters that attend all of the tables. The only waitress there was a little cutie... Very nice complexion. It was nice when she came around and such.
The Carpaccio was good and so was the spaghetti. I didn't get a spoon and asked for parmesan cheese. I would think its the norm.
Noticed a lot of rocker looking types walking around and joked around must have been some rock thing going on.
Got out of the restaurant and headed back. The weather was amazing today.. Totally loved it.
Had to find somewhere at the complex to validate the parking. Its only 2 bucks if you have it validated so yeah. There was this place that used to be in the place of Tonic. Mr. Beard Bake shop or whatever. They sell éclairs, cream puffs and that sort of stuff. Got the original cream puff and that was hella good. Not really sweet. Got my parking stub validated.
Headed back home and that was that. Later on the night I was working on updating my computer. Recently put on Windows XP and to my dismay, the place I put all my music is gone. All 9000 songs are gone. More to come...
Chicks are SUPPOSE to not be on time!!!!

CES... You need a Red Bull or drugs to survive this place..
The biggest electronic trade show in the world is back again. Last year it rained and it totally sucked but it wasn’t too bad since i caught up and hung out with a friend I haven’t seen from Long Beach. This year, the sun is out and the air is cool.
Usually the show starts on Thursday with a press debut type party thing and starts up Friday until Sunday. I wished I came out for those days to see the keynotes and check out the parties. The keynote I wasn’t to see was Bill Gates; I mean it would be awesome to just hear him talk. I found out that Gates had Justin Timberlake come out and show off Microsoft's music service, Urge. Timberlake says it’s a combination of MySpace and iTunes. God help us all.
I came down over Saturday.. so from what I recall i missed the Pre-Show CES show, the #1 gamer Fa1ality party at the House of Blues, Black Eyed Peas Intel party/performance, Monster's Stevie Wonder Awards party, The MTV Killers concert/party, and a Best Buy Party Pure. For sure next year i gotta take in the full experience of this convention. What’s always at the same time is the Adult Video News (AVN) Expo and Awards. Just watch The Girl Next Door and you see the general feeling of the place.
Left Saturday morning... had 2 naps and was already there. Not going to get all into the details. I’ll outline the happenings dealing with CES.
• Headed to Alexia Park where all the audio exhibitors are.
• Took the bus shuttle to the Convention Center
• Headed to the Press room and got my press bag. It was a friggin luggage thing on wheels.
• Gathered the press releases on the electronic companies
• Walked around the floor.
• Watched Johnathan "Fata1ity" Wendel inhumanly beat challengers in Quake 4. They were given 4 minutes to score just 1 kill off him and i saw 3 rounds of players and nothing. He got 22 kills off a dude and his score was -2. An amazing player, kills in the air and what not.
• Hung out at the Google booth.. Tommy Lee comes up to check out a plasma screen with some Google info. I noticed and asked to take a photo. Of course his bodyguard has to answer for him. Dude says from a distance. At this point, i was already 15 feet away, put up my camera and the bodyguard and his buddy start trippen out. I was did you not say from a distance, and of course bodyguards aren’t known for their brains and said that wasn’t a distance. So I am thinking, i should either take it anyways or just be a dick and turn into paparazzi mode. I just decided to just walk away.
• Checked out the Microsoft booth, there new operating system Vista looked amazing. Too bad they stole most of their ideas from Apple's OS system.
That’s about it... OH!! Of course the subject on everyone’s lips was the next gen DVD format. Either Blueray or HD-DVD. I could get into the details of each format but im not going to. Use Google and read on it. I personally was for Blue ray but I read an article where HD-DVD is much more easier for distribution to convert to for its much more friendly on the wallet price.
Headed back to my Aunts where i was staying.. Hung out and feel asleep to watching Wedding Crashers. Amazing movie.. I remember the part where the wedding for the Christopher Walken's daughter, where they were saying their vows about captain and shipmate. I was the only one laughing in the theatre. I love the movie...
Next day... Left Vegas after of course checking out the buffet at Mandalay Bay. Since it was Sunday, they were having a bunch with Champagne. Great food like always!! Since it was still early but then again late.. The drink of choice was a Mimosa!! The waiter then suggested i try instead of Orange Juice and Champagne, but Cranberry Juice and Champagne. I liked it much better since it cut out the alcohol taste. Good stuff!! What i did notice was this lady at my 2 o clock was staring. Like MAD!! Every other time i would people watch around the place, she would be staring. I looked behind me to see if there was anything to see but there wasn’t anything. I sat at the same place I have sat the last 2 times i have been there. Ehh whatever... Here’s a question, why do they have the dessert buffet place all the way on the opposite end of the main buffet? Just a thought..
Can’t wait to be back in Vegas with friends to party it up and stay up until the butt crack of dawn.
AVN or CES. Tough choice for next year...

Started 05 shitty but ended it much better!!!.. sorta
December 31st, 2005
You know... Rain sucks. I thought, hey no rain in December. I could deal with that since im not a fan of the rainy weather especially when im driving. I dont mind it if im home and all. Other than that, the only disadvantage of not having rain is not having snow in the mountains for snowboarding.
Here i am excited for the New Year Eve events. I had one already set up, Giant Village. Huge 6 block of downtown Los Angeles taken up, with 6 stages. On those stages were suppose to be Black Eyed Peas, Death Cab for Cutie, Flaming Lips, Christopher Lawerance, Junkie XL, Crystal Method and a lot more. I mean this was a party from 8 until 4am with 6 stages and lounges in the surrounding hotels. It the biggest 21 and over party in the World, why wouldnt it be the best New Years Event to hit up.
Story short.. Got down there. Event shut down. I mean i was hoping there wasnt any rain by the time i got down there and there wasnt. Semi clear skies, it was feeling like a great night for a party. It got canceled due to LAPD and the Fire Marshall shutting it down due to the safety of the people. I was like give me a break. However for some reason i was mad. I didnt even care. The three surrounding hotels from what i remeber the Westin Bonaventure, Sheraton and another were sold out. I can gurantee the only reason why it was sold out was because of this event. To add to the bullshit, im not big on caffene when i can help it. Most of the intake comes from tea however i figured i needed some Red Bull to prepare for this event. I downed one from the parking lot to the event and felt the effects rather quickly. My chest was not feeling all that great and so on. Thats what i get when i drink a can of liquid crack.
While walking back to the parking lot through the Sheraton. Saw Ben, the singer for Death Cab for Cutie and Postal Service hanging around with his girl. Even the performers didnt even know the event was canceled until an hour prior. I did hit up the publicist who was handling the event, but i was sure she was getting calls. She was very apoligic and i reassured her it was ok. I guess they will produce another event that will have the tickets honored.
Heres the thing.. I was kicking myself for not backing up the events which i initially thought i should have done. There was a party Pamela Anderson was hosting on the Paramount Studios with a midnight performance from the Pussycat Dolls. I would so have loved to see that. I skipped a fashion show at the studios due to the fact i had a term paper due the next day which i didnt start. Here was my chance again to party there. I was in talked with the publicist of the event, which i called but was busy with an US Weekly photoshoot for the event. I didnt want to bother calling him back, wasting his time since i was pretty much set on Giant Village.
Whats event more ironic. The first event i wanted to cover that night was John Legend at the House of Blues but i didnt bother again because of Giant Village. Gridlock LA, the Pamela Anderson event, was also canceled i learned a few days later. Talk about crappy rain. I knew people came to Los Angeles just to celebrate New Years and 2 of the biggest events were shut down. How nice.
I ended up heading to Curtis' place in Hollywood to hang out and figure out what was going to go down. The forsure opition was Together as One, a huge all ages rave party at the Los Angeles Sports Arena. Sorry but i didnt have 60 dollars to spend on a party like that. Especially when i dont enjoy raves that much. Before that, Curtis wanted a boxspring to be disposed. Had to throw that thing off the second floor balcony. Fun. After Troy and I tossed that into the dumpster, a Russian dude from the adjacent buiding yelled at us, telling us it wasnt a public dumpster. Ehh, well its on a public street.
Curtis and Troy off to Together As One. And I going back home to rest before heading off to Laguna Beach. A friend wanted to hang out and I came with the idea of why not hanging on the beach and watch the first sunrise of 2006. She didnt get off work until 2 and hey it would be fun.
Got home.. and knocked out. I couldnt drive an hour over there and stay up until 6am. Screw that. I was home just doing a few things and i didnt even care. I wasnt disappointed or anything. Its somewhat of an overrated day but people choose to celebrate it. Oh well. I think the reason why i didnt care is that i spent last year in a much more worse state of mind. I was helping a friend move and we went and did the dinner thing. But during the move, i was talking to someone. Our relationship had been getting really blah and that day, December 31st of 2004, i reliezed something that I didnt want to. Talk about a low point. That put my head in a tail spin and was in a funk all that night. Ehh whatever. So lets just say, 2 canceled events and not spending time with a hot chick on the beach was much better than what i felt last year. Thats for sure.
Live and learn.. doing it big for sure NYE 2007
