Update: Kara's Flower hits the Pond.. i mean Maroon 5...

Update:Read the article i wrote by clicking on this link

The band formerly known as Kara's Flowers, however im sure you would know the band as Maroon 5. I missed their concert back in February i think? at the Universal Amplitheatre, which recently changed their name to some weird name that i cant think of off the top of my head. Anywho... got to the Pond and it seemed a little dead getting into the parking lot. I thought it was just dead or people got there already since it was around 730ish. Last i was here for a concert was for Josh and man it was kinda packed, then again the show was at half capicity. They call it Theatre at Arrowhead Pond. I think they were trying to get at Theatre at Madison Square Garden. Now that was really nice, im thinking because it was a separate thing away from the arena and sports as i am guessing.

Got to my special VIP access thingly, away from lines and what not. Got there and recieved what i thought was my ticket. Melissa from Nederlander was really cute, and was my contact and she told me i had 2 tickets which i didnt even know. I was soo pissed. I was told by Maroon 5 publicist, Cat that i would only get one. But i knew it she was gonna be like that for whatever reason. Oh well, not like i havent covered a concert alone. Its better like that sorta.

Went in, looked at my ticket, section 102.. so i was like hmm.. it always gonna be decent. I mean i didnt pay for it, so i mean ok ya know?? but then i figured it was floor seat and a chair. Was about 15th row from the stage.. Hey floor seat are good seats, but yeah i been a little spoiled, and wanting to be closer.

I wished i was closer, there was a chick behind me who was being really annoying during The Thrills set. I was getting so annoyed. I just sucked it up and went along on my Sidekick. What was sorta funny was the dude a few seats from me, he was eating sunflower seeds and putting the shells on the floor. I mean it was all plushed carpeted and what not, but i mean cmon. Show a little class, you are in the floor section, and im sure for a reason.

Heres the funny thing, the dude left when Maroon 5 started. Whats even funnier than that? The annoying chick? She maded a "phone call" saying, "Michael Levine why arent you at your brother's concert." I just started laughing, either she did know him. Oh wait.. If you didnt follow, Adam Levine is the front man of Maroon 5 and im taking it that Michael is his brother. Anywho, she went on a conversation i didnt really follow much. But when she said Michael Levine bla bla, she said it really loud. I mean, it wasnt really loud since it was a break between the Thrills and Maroon 5. Anyways. Another funny thing that happened was that there was a chick behind me, mind you it was floor seats, she had her ears plugged. I mean why are you sitting there if you didnt know to get blown away?? I sure was, my ears were ringing all night after..

They got on the stage around 9ish. They were behind a curtain and the lights gave a silhouette that was projected on the curtain. The drum down beat changed colors from red, to blue to teal, to purple. It was exciting to be honest, which i wasnt expecting. Last i saw them was at Jingle Ball, but it wasnt their concert or stage, so i wasnt really impressed. Then the spotlight came down on Adam with guitar in hand. I wasnt too sure what song they came in with but im about 80 percent sure it was "Tangled." Man the song was hella funky and so much better live. Pretty much every single song was much better live and you dont get that often.

They played song after song, rarely any breaks between the songs which is great. Nonestop great music and lights and everything. Of course there had to be some lady next to me who was to be honest quite large and was dancing nonstop. I wouldnt mind the dancing, let alone herself so much if she didnt dance like she was at woodstock as a hippe. Im not goin to explain it but im sure you can picture it.

They sung new tracks like "Wasted Years," with a reggae sound and "I Can't Stop Thinking About You" with an 80's keyboard sound. Cant wait to hear the studio version of the tracks.

"Harder to Breathe" they had the strobes all crazy and flashing and man.. I cant say enough how this show was soo off the hook. Before "This Love," Adam made everyone get out of their seats, and i had to just look around because the light was shining on everyone. It must be an incredible feeling to see about 2000 eyes well double that, cheering and screaming for you. Everyone sang in unison to the chrous of "This love."

Check out a lil video i took of "This Love"

All and all i loved the show. I loved it so much i might go see them in Vegas on 11th of June at MGM. I got this incredible high from the show and want it back!! haha..

Maroon 5 is a bonafide rock band, lets hope the sophmore effort is the same as the freshman

Just read it.. then you can say something..

As far as i know this is a advance preview of this article on amazing Josh Groban. Please do not repost anywhere else. ENJOY!!

Confessions of a choir boy
Beyond the angelic voice and curls, Josh Groban enjoys a good cigar, flouts the speed limit and dreams of hosting Saturday Night Live one day.
By Steven Chean

Predictably, Josh Groban is a very tidy, well-mannered eater. We are in his two-bedroom high roller's suite at the Hotel at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, where the 24-year-old singer recently performed to a sellout crowd of 12,000 mostly female fans (many old enough to be his mom). A ribbon of windows frames the city's infamous neon skyline. Groban, busy making a sandwich at a buffet table, seems oblivious to the backdrop. He's just a hungry boy, I think, watching him push down the top piece of bread with one hand, then neatly cut the sandwich in half. Actually, he didn't eat the crusts. And he never, ever talked with his mouth full.

By now, most of America knows who Groban is. The boy singer next door. The multiplatinum millionaire recording artist. With soulful eyes and a crown of dark ringlets, he looks barely old enough to drive. So the richness of his operatic baritone comes as a surprise. When he wraps that commanding voice around a pop ballad, you can almost hear his audience (at least the aforementioned females) come apart at the seams. The most loyal fans, dubbed "Grobanites," follow
him from town to town with the worshipful attention given a preacher at a tent revival.

Nearly 10 million copies of Groban's recordings have been sold since he was discovered at age 17 by ueber-producer David Foster, the godfather of sweeping power ballads sung by the likes of Celine Dion and Whitney Houston. Nearly every place Groban plays sells out, including New York's Madison Square Garden. He landed a coveted performance slot at this year's Oscars and has sung in venues as diverse as the Vatican and on "Oprah." Recently, he wrapped a 30-city
tour to promote Josh Groban Live at the Greek, a CD and DVD recorded last September at Los Angeles' Greek Theatre.

How did this superstar ascend to the A-list without the media overexposure that seems to be a prerequisite to modern celebrity? Thanks to carefully scripted appearances, including on PBS' "Great Performances," Groban has managed to climb to the top while keeping a low profile.

"I think what makes him so special is the fact he has this enormous
grass-roots marketing machine behind him," says Miriam DiNunzio, a Chicago Sun-Times entertainment editor. "Let's face it: He's not getting radio play; he's not a staple on MTV or VH1. Yet he's sold [close to 10] million records? He's not part of the crowd, which is what sets him apart. He's not part of the cookie-cutter 'pop music star' vehicle that's so prevalent today, and he doesn't need to
be." Groban avoids the tabloid-feeding party circuit, preferring to hang out with longtime friends from summer arts camp or his girlfriend of almost two years, actress (and Ashton Kutcher's ex) January Jones. Before moving into a new two-bedroom condo in Beverly Hills last year, he lived with his folks in Los Angeles' upscale Hancock Park neighborhood. His close-knit family consists of dad Jack, 59, who owns an executive recruiting firm; mom Lindy, 62, an interior designer; and brother Chris, 20, a film student at the University of Southern California. Who helped to decorate his first bachelor pad? "My mom helped a lot," Groban says. "She knows my style."

Despite this -- may I say it? -- beige image, Groban is not without flash. He savors the occasional cigar (Cuban, no less). He drives a metallic charcoal 2003 Porsche 911 Carrera and has broken the law in it more than once, he confesses: "When I bought it, I said to myself, 'Y'know what? I wanna see what it can do.' I drove out to Vegas and got two speeding tickets -- one on the way there, one on the way back. Clocked me at 100 [mph]," he says, adding, "This is
before I got the radar detector."

Friends agree there's a lighter side to Groban, rarely seen on camera. "From hearing his songs, you might think he's always thinking about landscapes, or singing about rain or sorrow or love," says one of his best friends, New York-based filmmaker Ben Epstein, 23, who met Groban at a summer theater program in Interlochen, Mich., when they were 15. "But he's a very funny person, and you spend a lot of time with him laughing."

And he seems to truly lack the ego that usually accompanies fame and fortune. "One time we went out, and people didn't know who he was and assumed he was just a friend of mine from out of town," Epstein recalls. "One girl asked, 'What do you do?' and Josh said, 'Oh, I'm a singer.' She said, 'Oh, cool. I'm an actress.' They talked for about 10 minutes, and he never let on about what he does. He never went on about how great his life is."

"What separates Josh from other male pop-music stars is that he truly is the boy next door you can take home to Grandma," says Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune music critic Jon Bream. "He is unpretentious and genuinely likable on-and offstage. Middle-aged moms want their daughters to marry him, and young women want to hug him, for starters. Why? Because he's sweet and vulnerable and romantic and cute and has a voice that stands apart. He is the Phantom of the
Popera."

But Groban isn't ready to be labeled a one-note boy singer. What does he sing in the shower? Not Italian love songs. "I'm not a huge romantic song guy ..." he tells me over the phone later.

"You're not?" I reply. "That's kind of surprising."

He pauses. "I know, but I'm really not, and I can't really name you one song. [But] I do a pretty good Eddie Vedder. Even Flow is the one that works best against the [shower] tiles."

Another surprise: Groban does what Epstein calls dead-on impressions of goofball characters like Cartman from "South Park" and "Napoleon Dynamite." At the Las Vegas show, he displays his goofy side. Fans bearing gifts of thick hand-knit scarves are met with "Wow -- these are great" from Groban. Pause. "Too bad I live in Los Angeles," he teases. He reads out loud a sign one female fan holds up -- "Josh, you make us hot and stupid" -- then grabs a fire extinguisher, acts as if he'll pull the pin, then puts it down. The crowd roars. That
Josh, what a cutup.

OK, maybe he is a bit square, but his earnest sweetness is hard to resist. And he's remarkably open-minded musically, critic Bream says: "He is as conversant about Andrea Bocelli as about [the post-punk band] Franz Ferdinand. In concert, he's Pavarotti tripping through an aria in impeccable Italian, and then he'll get as silly as Justin Timberlake between songs," soaking in shouts of "I love you!" for several minutes, smiling, "I'll wait."

"Josh is the real American Idol," Bream says. "Leave the top 40 to Fantasia, Ruben and Kelly, because their combined CD and concert ticket sales don't come close to the numbers Josh has posted."

Groban's ambitions extend further than music. For one, he has his eye on movies. "No matter what business you're in -- music, television -- there is still nothing more powerful than film," says Groban, who first got mainstream notice an episode of TV's Ally McBeal. He longs to lighten up his act as well: "I love comedy. I'd love to host "Saturday Night Live." It's something I've drooled over since I was a kid."

Whatever lies ahead, expect Groban to do it his way. "In this business, it can be very tempting to not be yourself, to follow a formula, and a lot of people have success doing it," Groban says. "I stuck with what I believed in, and the road was much harder, but it was worth it."

Who inspires me to be true to myself
By Josh Groban

One thing my parents always instilled in me is to be true to myself and unwavering in following my instincts. They've always tried to keep me positive. You know the song High Hopes? When I was younger, I had this "I can't, I can't" personality. I had a lot of ability and a love for life and music, but I wouldn't say I had high hopes. I could've raised the bar higher. And my parents were always there just to make sure I knew I could do it.

One of the hardest times I ever had was in junior high. My grades weren't great, it was hard to make friends ... I was pretty miserable, like most kids in junior high! People deal with it in different ways, to try to find who they are. Some do a lot of things they later regret. It was definitely a challenge to stay the course and trust myself, but I managed to do it.

My passion was music, and I felt so lucky to have had that focus. I knew exactly what I wanted, and that really helped me in not feeling like I had to give in to the angst that comes with that time in your life. I had a family that was supportive, and I made sure to soak up culturally all that my city had to offer. The arts made me confident. I had a vision and a path early on that not a lot of kids around me had.

Now, at 24, looking at the new "adult" world around me, some things don't change. It's been a very rewarding last couple of years because I've been able to just go out and be myself. What people see and hear is who I am. The most rewarding risk is the one you take based on trusting the voice inside you. If you make a decision not based on who you really are and it's not a success, you'll always regret it. So far, I have no regrets. I have a lot of choices to make
in the coming years, but knowing they will all come from an honest place makes me excited for the outcome, whatever it is.

A few of his favorite things
Josh likes a Journey tune and a plate of steak and eggs.

-- Gatorade. "I love orange Gatorade. I have a bottle onstage at all times, and I drink a couple bottles before a show. I always have it at home."
-- Cheese. "I don't know whether it's my Scandinavian heritage or what, but I've always loved cheese. Since I was a little kid, I really, really like [Laughing Cow Mini Babybel cheese]. I used to call it 'cookie cheese,' because it's in the shape of a cookie. When you unwrap the red wax, it looks like a Pacman. I'm obsessed with those."
-- Crooners: His favorite is Tony Bennett, left. "One of the great, great romantic singers." Another: Steve Perry. "One Journey song I like a lot is 'Faithfully.' It's about him being on tour and missing his girlfriend, and that gets me. I know what he's talking about."
-- Most likely place to spot Josh: The Original Pantry, 877 S. Figueroa St. in downtown L.A. "I used to go there a lot as a kid. I sit at the counter, have some steak and eggs [$8.25]. Then I'll drive around. I love to drive, even in L.A., where traffic is kind of nuts. My favorite drive is [along the Pacific Coast Highway], from L.A. to Malibu. [Girlfriend] January and I will sometimes go to Gladstone's 4 Fish Malibu [a restaurant overlooking the ocean at 17300 Pacific Coast Highway] and have lunch. It's a beautiful area. I'd love to move
down there eventually."

Meet The Grobanites
They follow him from city to city with the same level of devotion that has driven Deadheads and Phish fans. Grobanites, as fans of Josh are called, express their loyalty in a variety of ways. Ginny Owen, 43, of Meridian, Idaho, and daughter Rachel, 17, reflect his multigenerational appeal. His largely female fan base also includes HOGs, Husbands of Grobanites (Owens and her hubby spent their last anniversary at a Groban concert in Wichita). Owens met her best
friend through a fan site: "I thank Josh for introducing us!"

At friendsofjoshgroban.com, the official fan site run by his record label, Reprise, 12,000 fans shell out $39.95 a year to get never-before-seen video and other stuff. A newsletter is also planned.

Another site, grobanitesforcharity.org, has raised $200,000-plus for Groban's charity work for kids since 2004 through auctions of backstage passes and fans' handmade items (T-shirts, puzzles, even soaps with his image) and personal items (Josh's tennis shoes sold for $480). Marilyn Scandrett, 58, a night nurse from Brick, N.J. (25 concerts), made the $1,500 winning bid for a phone call
from Josh. -- Evan Frank

effin BEAUTIFUL SOUL!! continued...

Im gonna give a cliff notes on the Saturday..

Audition at 1:00. Got ready for it and put on a blazer. Dude it was hella hot but i had to dress the part for this job. Got there, and stood around most of the time. Got a comment that i should be hired when i pointed a gentlemen to the fitting room and told him i was interviewing.

Doug, this asian dude where my friend said he had a little queer vibe was trying to start some conversation with me. He asked me what shirt i was wearing and i hesitated because i didnt want to say because i could ruin my chances to get this job, however i just gave it a second and said Versace..

Met Sandy who is one of the managers and im sorry but she had a really low cut shirt, and im sure you guys know how that story ends, well rather 2 story ends.. cough.. anywho..

Watched a video, i thought i had the retail thing pat however, at Express its more hands on and zoned. Its good that its zone, so that you only deal with your certain area. I am used to running around a store to help customers.

They then threw us on the floor. To do customer service. Did it, done it. Was whatevers, what i didnt get the hang of and what they want is that if you direct a customer to the fitting room you gotta get there name and then you get on the mic and tell whoever is in the fitting room that "Billy Jo," or "Sally Sue" was heading back there. It was really brief.

Then off to the fitting rooms. Haha.. good times. i remember when i had fitting room duty for Sirens. Im telling you, the pros weigh out the cons. Pro, chicks asking for your opinion on clothes, con.. putting back the clothes they dont want. Another thing with that is that if they dont like the size, you get on the mic and get another one for them. So pretty much a full service type thing. Ok the chick i was there with was Tracy and she seem pretty fly but she went on break after like 5 mins.. then her replacement... The chick i noticed the night before, and wow... She was honestly hella bomb. She had the elegant casual business type dressy look. However the thing is, her hair was up. Im not a big fan of the hair up, well i mean her hair wasnt down, it was like in a ponytail. She was hot no doubt, i wonder how old she could be though. I would say around my age, but man she had these eyes. I wanna say its like Winnie from Wonder Years but they were softer with a little Kristin Kreuk vibe. Anywho, introduced myself and that was about it. Oh her name is Veronica...For now... :)

Then i was then shifted to the woman's clothing for a little bit. For about 10 mins and Sandy took me back to the back for the interview. Very simple thing, you know how i said the stories came to an end. They soo werent, we both were sitting in a chair and yeah... She would read the question and i mean it took awhile and yeah.. They were just up in my face.

The interview was a typical thing. Which i hate, about 99 percent of my jobs, ive never interviewed for. They been offered or i just got into it and thats about it. Accomplishments, something you are proud of blah blah. One that through me off was what fashion mags you read. I just answered answered GQ and Details, which i do read. But most of the magazines i read have some form of fashion like Rolling Stone, FHM, Maxim, Interview, Cargo, and Men's Health.

After that was done, i figured i nailed the job. I leave, say whats up to Doug and i really wanted to go say bye to Veronica. Then left on home.

Went out to dinner, hit up the mall which i didnt want to. Well went straight to Lucille, hour wait. Then headed off to Old Spaggitti Factory because a friend worked there. Had food, and it was nice. After, picked up a friend, dropped one off. Chilled and thats about it..

I say it now, if i get this job, more clothes, more money, more chicks, and more Veronica.....hopefully..

Beautiful Soul....!!

Wow i say i had an interesting sorta long weekend. No use summarizing it. Ill just get on with it.

Friday...
Went to dinner with a friend.. Headed out to PF Changs. Got there around 730 and there was a wait, just about an hour. The girl that took down my name was friggin pretty fine. She was a black chick but fair skinned with glasses. Thats all that gotta do it. The glasses. So it was about an 1 hour wait, so we headed off to the Victoria Gardens.

Of course like usual, it was pretty crowded. For whatever reason, i went into Express. Well i always go in there and try to buy something i but i always get caught up buying other things elsewhere. I saw these tight blazers that were 40 percent off and tried them on and they didnt have my size. I am 46, for now, but the biggest they had was 44 which still somewhat fit. I then decided to ask someone if they were hiring and Janette, who is one of the managers said they were. I made sure they werent doing the whole accepting application thing and i was then pointed to Doug.

Filled out an application, went to Coffee Bean to do it. Saw Cindy and i forgot the other name. Wow.. Cindy got big, the dude used to wrestle but i totally forgot his name. 3 years ago, she got pregnant, and i think they had another kid. Word of advice kids, if you live across someone you are dating or attracted to. Good luck trying to keep the sexcapades to a minimum.

Went back to give my application, notice this really pretty girl and i was told my "audition" was tomorrow. I thought to myself, wow they must need people. Audition.. aka interview, but i guess they throw you on the floor to see how you work. I didnt have a problem with this since i done retail since i was 15 until i was 19.

Headed off to PF Changs. The cute black chick was still there and she remembered my name.. ehh no bigge it was only an hour ago.. HAHA. Got seated outside. Always get the Lettace Wraps, and orange peel shrimp with brown rice. ALWAYS. Hot Sour Soup and Spanich sucked!!

Funny thing of the dinnner. There was a couple next to us. Me and my friend were chilling and it looked like another couple came and join them and the dude asked for a chair. I didnt mind, and then he asked for another, saying, "Can we have the other chair." "I told him sure but im gonna need it back if 2 hot chicks come and wanna join us." "He was like, well if they come, i will join you with them." That got a few good laughs from the table and the table next to us. I mean cmon, i love cracking people up. Heres the kicker though, a few minutes later, a Hot chick came out and join them. I assume it was the daughter, but i was like.. why you holding out.. Of course i said this in my head. HAHA..

Another thing, it seem like this dude was waiting for someone 2 tables down. Then the chick came and i got the vibe it was a blind date sort of thing. But i couldnt help but notice she wasnt even paying attention to him. I dont wanna say who she was looking at, to sound all cocky or whatever. So ill end this part.. haha..

Headed back to the mall, to get some Cold Stone. Met up with my friend's homie and these 2 chicks. 2 chicks his homie met from Myspace. All i gotta say is are you kidding me? All i gotta say, this homie was turning 21 the next day, and these girls were 16 and 17. Cmon now! Anywho, got my Cold Stone, French Vanilla and Oreos in a Love it cup.. OK.. the funny thing, i wanted Vanilla Bean, but i said French Vanilla and pointed at the Vaniia Bean. It was kinda funny, it reminded me of Dane Cook. Then there was a dude showing off. I mean he did this scoop thing that was cool. Then he started show boating and threw the whole ice cream in the air and tried to catch it and missed. The person who ordered the ice cream just gave him a dirty look.

I actually for once ever i finished a Love it. Ive never done that ever.

It was about 12 and man the Yard House had a line and it was kinda funny. That one foo that to take them girls home in La Verne and still wanted to do something. I was whatevers, but i guess we decided Hooka.

Hit up Sinbad in Glendora. I thought we were rolling to Aladdins since ive been there before. Hit up the hooka, orange flavor of course. Didnt really hit it up that much. There was a belly dancer there and man it was hot. She had this nice body and it was all shaking and such and yeah. That was nice.

Left around 1 when they were closing. There was a chick who was hitting the hooka pretty nice next too us and i thought that was kinda hot. Anywho.. Got home around 1:30 and stayed up until 3ish. Long interesting day. Was planning to go to McAllens with Pam, but yeah it was kinda late. Oh well, haha. Left her hanging again, but she was with friends so its all good... Tomorrow is gonna be interesting...

Desperate Housewives are sooo rude!!

So like i usually dont go grocery shopping. I usually do when i need to get somethign to eat since there isnt nothing at home and i dont feel like going out everytime. Plus i love the chicken dinner meal at the Deli thingy at Albertsons. Anywho, all i have to rant about is that the MILFs of Rancho Cucamonga are really rude. No excuse me, no pardon me. They will just ram you... with their shopping carts that is. Get the head out of the gutter. I mean cmon, their are other people around you who is trying to shop also. At least acknowlegde them instead of just going along with your diapers and milk formula. Thats all i gotta say..

Coachella!!

Wow.. only had about 3 hours of sleep. Woke up at 7 because there was some big sale at the Good Guys in Glendale. 50 percent or whatever. Wanted to go but it didnt open until 10 and i had to leave at 10 to Coachella.

Got all ready and what not, put in on my tight ass Beatles shirt i got from Target yesterday. My homie showed up at my house and i noticed his shirt right away and i was like aww cmon give me a break. Since we were at my house then i had to go change and blah.

Headed on out.. headed to the gas station.. wanted to pick up some water and to check if my article was put in the paper since i didnt see it online.. Moved to the entertainment section and there it was. My Rob Thomas article..

Jumped on the 10 and headed East. It was a hella nice day, wished i had my car, top down and all. I found it hella funny certain cars full of chicks were all waving and what not. I wanted to play a little phone game with em and stuff but whatever.

Got there around 12. Got my press passes and tickets for both days.. haha.. saved me about 400 bucks. 80 dollar a day which is worth it but its worth more its free. I was there to see The Kills, Bloc Party, Z-Trip, Coldplay, Weezer, and Keane. Well guess what i didnt get to see any of them. They were playing really late, Coldplay hit the stage at 11pm. Left around 3.. i was soo dead tired. Walking around in the sun beaming down on my head and having 3 hours of sleep. Most of this was late minute like always. Im sure i would have had fun, next year it needs to be planned a lot better on my part.

Coachella a bust, but i didnt drive or pay for tickets so it was ok!!:)

People i see while out.. Part I

This is usually a bad thing for me, and im sure it is now.. Just i just wanna keep track and keep me reminded of how much i hate being out in Rancho...

Max - Was a homie way back in the day, stop talking to him, his girl of 2 years broke it off with him to "hang out" with me. Soo didnt know, he got butt hurt and of course threaten to beat me up.. aww high school.

Amanda - Said whats up, kinda always see her at the mall.

Kevin (Amanda's bf) - Tried to do the avoid thing, but she sooo caught me. I must admit he had a tight ass shirt on, that said Models Wanted and it was pink. haha

Bunch of random dudes including, Anthony and DJ and some other fools. Sorta funny is you ask me, they were waiting to get on the trolly. How cute!!

Thea - Looking cuter however still apart of the asian posse that i will never associate with. But i go to Kubuki often and she is always there..

I think thats it for now...
