Las Vegas is the fight, gambling, and now deemed the electronic dance music capital of the world. With the impending Insomniac Event’s Electric Daisy Carnival week, including a music conference, EDMbiz, followed by the three-day festival in early June. The two highest revenue producing nightclubs in United States last year, Marquee Nightclub & Dayclub inside the Cosmopolitan Resort and Casino and XS Nightclub inside Encore at Wynn Last Vegas, are attracting dance music fans all over world with each club pulling out all the stops for Memorial Day Weekend.
XS Nightclub Memorial Day Weekend Line-up kicks off with Mixmag voted “Greatest DJ of All Time,” Tiesto on Friday, May 25th. He comes off his record-setting largest single DJ show in U.S. history at the home of the 2011 MLS Cup champion Los Angeles Galaxy, Home Depot Center, in Carson, CA. His collaboration, We Own the Night featuring Luciana, with Wolfgang Gartner will surely have the crowd jumping.
One third of the trio Swedish House Mafia, Steve Angello, will take his Size Matters party from the Hollywood Palladium May 12th to the XS Nightclub Saturday, May 26th. It will be a family affair with his younger brother, AN21, who recently performed at the Claremont McKenna College’s annual White Party back in March, joining Max Vangeli. The duo has been dubbed as the “Top 5 DJs to Watch” in 2011 by DJ Mag.
Joel Zimmerman aka Deadmau5 continues his residency at XS Sunday, May 27th with his famous mau5 headpiece which stole the show at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. This night’s festivities will be a laid back affair deemed a “Night Swim” party. Party goers will have the option of frolicking in the pool under the stars or dancing inside under the rotating chandelier.
The weekend leads up to the debut of DJ Mag’s #1 DJ’s, David Guetta, XS residency alongside Tim Bergling aka Avicii. The name David Guetta can’t be spoken without the names of Usher, Nikki Ninaj, and Jesse J following suit. Guetta can be named as the electronic dance music ambassador with what he has done for the scene the last few years. Avicii, who played last Friday at XS and for his third time in Vegas within three weeks, is coming off back to back weekends at Coachella Music Festival and headlining the Ultra Music Festival in Miami, FL. His club anthem, “Levels” was the biggest track of last year and “Fade into Darkness” and “Nicktim” will soon prove the same this year.
XS’ chic vibe and fashionable reputation has dance music goers partying inside an upscale ambience where the party can continue on to an outdoor pool under the stars. XS is open Friday through Monday from 10 p.m to 4 a.m, located on The Espanade at Encore. For more information, visit www.xslasvegas.com.
Not to be out done, go south down the strip from XS is Marquee Nightclub and Dayclub and their
Memorial Day Weekend line up which includes DJ Times’ America’s Best DJ, Kaskade, along with Benny Benassi, Chuckie, Armin van Burren, and Nicky Romero.
Dutch DJ, Chuckie, takes over the decks at the Dayclub on Friday May 25th. When the day turns into night, “Satisfaction” and latest collaborator with Chris Brown on “Beautiful People,” Benny Benassi enters the nightclub alongside Fedde Le Grand and Madeon
On Saturday, May 26th, Chuckie returns to Dayclub and brings with him the man who has everyone asking, “Have you seen Molly?” Cedric Gervais has been synonymous with the Miami dance scene for years and some of his credits include working with Lenny Kraviz, Deep Dish and Steve Lawler. The English trance trio Above and Beyond consisting of members Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness, and Paavo Siljamäki will bring their Group Therapy to the nightclub.
Sundays maybe for recovery, however, when Kaskade is spinning his tracks at a pool party, one can reserve recovery for another day. Ryan Raddon will be kicking off his “Freaks of Nature” Tour at the Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan Hotel and Resort the Friday prior to his May 28th appearance at the Dayclub. He played a four hour set last Sunday at the debut of Marquee and Insomniac Event’s Wet Wonderland, a pool party occurring every Sunday throughout entire season. The nightclub will be a trance family affair with Armin van Buuren, Gareth Emery, and Blake Jarrell. Buuren was considered the Best DJ in the World at one point and was the headliner at the main stage of the sold out Beyond Wonderland in San Bernardino in March. Emery is one of the youngest DJs to enter into the top ten in DJ Mag’s Top 100 poll.
The holiday weekend at Marquee Dayclub and Nightclub ends with ATB, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano in the daytime and Nicky Romero at night. The Dutch duo of James and Marciano will have the crowd dancing poolside with their soulful vocals and funky house sound. Trance pioneer, ATB, has been around the international music scene for nearly 20 years. Named Best Remixer by Only for DJ’s magazine, Romero’s Spinnin’ Records track, “Toulouse,” and his collaboration with Avicii on “Nicktim” will make him a household name. If his tracks don’t, his singing with David Guetta will.
The David Rockwell-designed venue includes seven bars with transitions between three lavish rooms, the main room, boombox, and library. The focus being the main room with its 40 foot LED DJ booth.
