Blige, Rod Stewart, Josh Groban, Gwen Stefani, Ozzy Osbourne, Andrea Bocelli, Steven Tyler, Phil Collins, Robert Downey, Jr., Pink, Gavin Rossdale, Kelly Osbourne and Scott Weiland, with music performed by Velvet Revolver.
iTunes will forward the song’s entire $.99 download fee to Save the Children,” which will help fund the long-term rebuilding of the lives of children affected by the natural disasters. Donations made in the U.S. will go directly to the Hurricane Katrina victims, while monies received outside the U.S. will be assigned to the tsunami relief fund. Originally recorded by Eric Clapton in 1991 following the death of his son, “Tears in Heaven” was re-recorded throughout Europe, the U.K. and the U.S. with producer Mark Hudson. The Los Angeles sessions took place at The Village, the same studio where Clapton recorded the original.
Sharon says, “The magnitude of these natural disasters surpasses anything we’ve seen in our lifetime. With this single and other relief efforts, our intent is to keep these tragedies in the forefront of everyone’s minds. We must not forget and do all we can to help these people rebuild their lives.” She adds, “Music fans who purchase this single will aid the relief efforts and own a historic recording for which these talented artists graciously donated their time.”Benefit CD Next Month
